Family story

Fombrun Family Heritage

The Fombrun family was founded by Charles Fombrun and Maria St-Léger Perrier-Fombrun, two influential figures in Haitian history. Born in 1889 in Gonaïves, Charles was a descendant of the Desdunes family of the Rosignol-Desdunes plantation. A school inspector turned politician, he became the first elected Senator of the Artibonite in 1930 and served in the Senate for nearly 30 years, defending Haiti’s Constitution with conviction. Maria, born in 1892 in Miragoâne, was the granddaughter of Baroness Théma Duplessis of Emperor Faustin I’s court. Known for her strong personality and artistic soul, she was passionate about painting and writing. They married on November 25, 1914, and had twelve children. Together, they were affectionately called “Papi and Mamie Laboule” by their descendants, who carry on their legacy of integrity, culture, and service to Haiti.

The Fombrun family, founded by Charles and Maria, is a proud Haitian lineage whose descendants are now spread across the globe.

In Loving Memory Recent Death Anniversaries

In the Fombrun family, the memories we create together are our greatest treasure. Amid the joyful informality of family life where laughter echoes, imperfections are embraced, and love runs deep we find the freedom to grow into our best selves, even in our most unguarded moments. It is in this beautiful, imperfect closeness that the strength of our legacy lives on.
